Blog Vs. Wiki

Blog is a site that is usually managed by individuals and where new articles are posted on irregular time. Posts on blogs are usually arranged in reverse order, from new to old, according to the the time they were posted. Many blogs focus on providing commentary or news on specific topics, while others are used as more personal diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, links to other websites and other social medias, such as Facebook, twitter. Allowing readers to leave comments in an interactive manner is an important element of many blogs, at the same time, self- published topics and blogs are widely promoted. Blog with the network as a carrier, simple, quick and convenient to release their own experience, timely and effectively and easily communicate with others.

The difference is that Wikipedia is a collaborative project of multi-language encyclopedias based on Wikipedia technology. It's characterized by simplicity, openness, coordination and organization. It can serve many different purposes, which includes both public and private, including knowledge management, note-taking and community websites. Anyone who could read a wiki page had the ability to edit that wiki page, which the blogs are not allow to edit the original post by other people, it's only able to leave a comment. I think the new use of Wiki is that every school or company should has its own Wiki page that provides a detailed information that the people curious and interested about. People can look for answers on the Wiki pages, which can reduce the hassle of answering their questions over and over again.

  1. I completely agree with your comparison here Huiqi, I guess we could both agree that Blog is a better option overall when it comes to integrity of the content, because unlike blog wiki can be easily edited by any authors without factual resources to back it up. The only thing i like about wiki is the availability of the information, most of the time our research tool list wiki as one of the top sources.
